  8.         This AlphaSpell dictionary is based on the French dictionary that
  9. comes with the Unix version of a program called "Le Dico." This version was
  10. already in Latin ISO. I forget where I found it, but there is another
  11. version of the dictionary at the same site as I've found most of the other
  12. lexicons. Based on my poor knowledge of French, Le Dico seems to do some
  13. dictionary maintenence and pattern matching. I don't know whether it does
  14. anything else.

  16.         Le Dico came with a file called "copying.doc". I asked someone who
  17. knows French to tell me what it said, and then I looked up words in a
  18. French-English dictionary to bolster my understanding of it. As I
  19. understand it, I am free to use the dictionary as I wish. If I were
  20. modifying the source code to Le Dico or to its utility programs, I would
  21. have to include the complete sources. But I am not doing that. AlphaSpell
  22. may do some of the same things as Le Dico, but it is not based on it in any
  23. way. All I'm doing is making Le Dico's lexicon available for AlphaSpell to
  24. use.

  27. if you don't?), here is the French text on distributing Le Dico:

  40.          Le Dico n'est pas domaine public, il est "Freeware".

  42.          Considerez  que  Le  Dico  et  les  fichiers  le  composant   sont
  43.          distribues pratiquement avec un "CopyLeft" similaire à  celui  des
  44.          programmes GNU, parceque c'est un exemple du genre. (Mais Le  Dico
  45.          n'a rien a voir avec GNU bien entendu).

  47.          En resume, vous etes libres de diffuser gratuitement Le Dico a qui
  48.          vous voulez. Vous  etes  libres  d'utiliser  tout  ou  partie  des
  49.          sources et  fichiers  le  composant  pour  toute  realisation,  le
  50.          lexique est d'ailleurs fait pour cela !

  54.          Vous devez  fournir  l'archive  originale  complete,  sans  jamais
  55.          dissocier les fichiers la composant. La version d' origine est  la
  56.          version  Unix,  faites  circuler  cette  version  universelle   de
  57.          preference a l'adaptation DOS chaque fois que c'est possible.

  59.          Si vous faites des modifications ou ameliorations, ou realisez des
  60.          utilitaires a distribuer avec Le Dico, vous devez le signaler dans
  61.          la documentation, et fournir les SOURCES COMPLETES  (et  portables
  62.          dans la mesure du possible) de tout ce que vous implementez, ou du
  63.          moins laisser ces sources disponibles  a  tous  gratuitement,  sur
  64.          simple demande.

  67.          programme 'ouvert' et gratuit, devant etre accessible a  toute  la
  68.          communaute.
